I'm Torata - a hobbyist photographer based in Zurich, Switzerland. By day I write code; on weekends and whenever a flight takes me somewhere, I point a camera at things.
I'm entirely self-taught, which mostly means years of trial and error, a lot of badly exposed shots I'll never show anyone, and an ongoing relationship with the histogram that's best described as complicated. I shoot street and landscape - cities, architecture, light on water, the gap between buildings. I don't have a strict style or a project with a thesis. Just a habit of looking, and an interest in how places feel at different hours.
The portfolio is wherever I've been - Europe, Asia, the Caucasus, wherever the next trip lands. Switzerland fills the gaps between. I bring a camera on every journey regardless of whether the destination warrants it - some of those shots end up here, most don't.
No formal training, no studio, no commercial work. Just someone who finds it hard to walk past good light without stopping.
